Tangla Press Club expells Secretary Rudra Deka

Tangla Press Club (TPC) expelled it's secretary Rudra Deka with immediate effect from the post of the Secretary of the club on allegation of collection of money in the name of the institution. In a meeting held at TPC  on Tuesday, the secretary was removed on allegation of unconstitutional moves and disruption of unity among the members the journalist.

As a part of the three-day programme for the celebration of Rongali Bihu. The first day celebration on Thursday marked with flag hoisting by the president of the celebration committee, of Xadou Tangla Rongali Bihu Xanmilani. Followimg which a colourful cultural procession reflecting various communities was also taken out from the Tangla H.S playground throughout the town. People of the town came out in unison to participate in the rally. Many other Bihu Xanmilans also joined in unison and took part in the cultural rally.
The local public quickly extinguished a small fire at about 11:20 a.m. on Thursday  behind Smart Kitchen store, Old SBI Branch  Complex in Tangla. The fire was reported in the electricity meter box. The local public thronged into action and doused the fire. This correspondent was present at the time of the incident and contacted the fire brigade office following which team of firefighters rushed the spot and took stock of the situation. Timely action and  of the public averted a major incident. No injuries have been reported.

An unidentified man, aged around 40 years, was run over and killed by a Guwahati bound train near Kukrakata railway track on the outskirts of Tangla town on Monday morning. His head was severely bruised and beheaded in the incident. Meanwhile the body has been sent for post-mortem. The local police did not recover any document or mobile phone from the dead body.

A wild elephant created havoc in Bamunjuli area of Udalguri district neighbouribg Indo-Bhutan border on Tuesday. The house of one Manju Deka was ransacked at about 3 am on Tuesday. Talking to Assam Times, Deka said "I and my daughter some how saved our lives.  Our houses have been ransacked and all our rice consumed by the elephant."  The poverty striken family is now looking for government's help.
