Tangla Press Club expells Secretary Rudra Deka

Tangla Press Club (TPC) expelled it's secretary Rudra Deka with immediate effect from the post of the Secretary of the club on allegation of collection of money in the name of the institution. In a meeting held at TPC  on Tuesday, the secretary was removed on allegation of unconstitutional moves and disruption of unity among the members the journalist.

Opposing BJP Vision Document stand to grant ST status to six communities of the state, Bhergaon District Tribal Sangha burnt copies of the BJP's vision document at Bhergaon on Tuesday. The Sangha also said that the decision  of the saffron party to grant ST status to six communities will greatly hamper the indigenous tribal communities of the state. The Sangha also alleged that the much anticipated 1000 crore special package to BTC would not benefit the tribal communities. An education awareness programme  was organised  at Borengajuli Santipur village of Udalguri district on Sunday. The programme was organised by Pherengadao NGO and presided by village headmen Ragen Basumatari. Social worker Atul Boro highlighted erratic electrical power supply in the village. Children of this remote village, inhabited mostly by tea tribe community, avoid going to schools. Most women in teh village lack formal education. The sorry state of affairs and absence of on duty doctors in some government hospitals in the state is not unheard of. Proper health care has remained a far cry for the poor people of Tangla and neighbouring places as doctors employed in 30 beded CHC Tangla are busy either serving their patients in their private clinics or remain unattended during the duty period.
