Kristna Saikia, a well known actress has been honoured with 'Maharashtra Gaurav Samman'- (Pride of Maharashtra ) award on 1st May 2016 on Maharashtra Day by EIN news Channel 'Indian express News' as an Actress contributing to Art and Cinema. Kristina has acted in cross over films which were part of Cannes film festival since 2012 till 2015, American film market in Santa Monica and Oscar Contention with her films and more then 10 international film festivals worldwide.

She will be very soon seen in a much awaited film Kamasutra3D, Directed by Rupesh Paul which is scheduled to release in more then 6000 theatres worldwide .

Kristna originally was  born in Margherita and studied in Guwahati B. Baroah college. Since her earlier days, Kristna has been involved in plays, television,films as an actress. She is also a model and a columnist .

Agri officials asked to take steps to combat army worms

The agriculture department steps up measures to firmly deal with the army worms which wreak huge havocs in many parts of the state. In a letter to District Agricultural Officers and other officials, the department said that army worms or swarming caterpillars have manifested in different areas of the State. Steps like deployment of spraying squads in affected areas have been directed. It said that sufficient plant protection chemicals like quinnolphos , chloropyriphos and malathon powder have been made available to all the affected districts. Health Camp for Flood Victims by Cottonian82

A health camp was organised by "Cottonian82" , an organisation of the alumni of Cotton College of 1982 batch, in association with KGMT Hospital, under Kuntal Goswami Memorial Trust, Mother Teresa Road, Guwahati,  at Mayong on 20th August, 2017 for flood affected people.   The camp get response from around 300 villagers from Mayong and nearby villages.  Specialist from different field gave counselling to the villagers along with free medicines.
