We are proud of you Mr. Mahadev Deka for bringing laurels to our state. Though miles away from home, such rare feat of achievement by any person from our native really makes the banner of Assam fly high and higher. Congrats once again!

This is last year news. He was runner up in Mr Universe 2008. Just 2 days back this year 2009, he has won the Mr. Universe. What about that news? Who has written these comments so late, after 1 year??

he is the trainer of our gym,,,i c him everyday,,,he is a very good human being..we r very much proud to c him...bt at the same time it feels so bad that the day he won the title the whole i was sittin in front of tv to c him...bt not a single news chanel has covered this story...except a local news chanel ie NE TV

It is indeed a proud moment for India and Assam, I am overjoyed by this exciting news and in fact took the pride in informing lots of my friends at office about this glorious achievement by Mr Mahadev Deka. I would like to congratulate Mr Mahadev Deka and would like him to reach more landmarks in coming years.

Its a great honour and respect to all the North eastern people...n an enthusiasm for all the youth..Mr Mahadev Deka showed us the way that everythig is possible... hope more of us (North east) folks was inspired by his success....n will always believe tht we also can reach the goal one day. I remember the first time I met Mahadeb sir. I had joined a gym for the first time in my life, and by sheer luck, he happened to be my coach. On my first day, it was he who saw me crash on my chest after 2 pushups, I was that weak. But then he worked his magic, and in 6 - 8 months, I was working out with significantly heavier weights each time, culminating in a point where, though I would not have qualified for any tournament, I was as fit as an athlete. So here's a big thank you to Mr. Mahadeb Deka. We'll always be proud of you, sir :)

Gram Pradhans tried to disrupt the citizen's social audit

This social audit is being carried out by the citizens on the development work done under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS).The Miyaganj block development office had earlier provided documents related to NREGS after one and a half years struggle at UP State Information Commission under Right to Information Act. AASU will continue agitation for AOD cause

The All Assam Students Union will continue the agitation unless the government stops the move to retain the Assam Oil Division's marketing branch in Assam. The AASU leaders have warned that they are not comfort with OIL's decision only to retain the red rhino symbol. Addressing a press conference on Thursday, AASU adviser Dr Samujjal Bhattacharjee said they will stop any move to hurt the interest of Assam and its people. He criticized the Tarun Gogoi Government for remaining silent in this regard. Freedom fighter aide of Kushal Konwar dead

Veteran freedom fighter Indreswar Phukan of Golahgat breathed his last on Thursday morning. He was 90. The end came early in the morning at his own residence. For the last couple of months he had been ailing. Mr Phukan was actively engaged in the freedom struggle and was known to be closed associate of Kushal Konwar. It may be noted that two years ago he got his burial place dug in the form of moidam for his last rites.

2 arrested the city for dealing in fox flesh

Two people have been arrested by police and seized some flash of fox from their possession in the city’s kamakhya Railway station on Wednesday night. The preparations are underway to conduct the social audit of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) in Miyaganj development block of Unnao district in UP.The National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005 bestows the rights to citizens to conduct a social audit of the work carried out under the act.Before this Act came into place, the citizens had the only choice to lodge a complaint with concerned officer reporting the drawbacks or shortcomings. DHD(J) withdraws ban on NC hills projects

The DHD Jewel group has withdrawn the ban it earlier imposed on the rail broadgauge and National Highway construction projects in North Cachar hills district.
