Training on energy efficiency and conservation


One-day district level training on energy efficiency and conservation was conducted by Arunachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency (APEDA), Pasighat at the JNC Upper Campus Auditorium today. Deputy Commissioner Isha Khosla and ZPC Kaling Dai graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively and host officers and staffs from various departments, PRI members, PMC Councilors and entrepreneurs were imparted awareness on the issues.

Addressing the gathering, DC Khosla called upon all the participants to make best use of the training program and to share the knowledge they gained in the society. According to her adopting energy conservation practices has never been easier, but regular practice with judicious use by any individual can realize significant savings as well as play a part in the global campaign for the environment. Understanding our household energy consumption will allow us to plan and implement appropriate energy conservation methods that suit our lifestyle, said the DC. While sharing some energy saving tips, the Khosla advised to switch on air conditioners, microwaves and other appliances only when required and to keep all equipments switch off when not in use. People should replace common bulbs with LED bulbs to minimize their expenditure and power consumptions, she opined. She also urged Panchayat leaders and councilors to create awareness regarding misuse of energy in every level and to spread the message of energy efficiency and its conservation among the people for future generations. While appreciating APEDA for successful conduction of the awareness cum training program, she suggested to organize more training programs in remote areas of the district.

Guest of Honour Kaling Dai, ZPC in his brief speech urged the PRI leaders to extend their fullest cooperation to APEDA in making East Siang a model district.

Earlier, Project Officer (APEDA) Er. Kape Badak informed that main objective was to make awareness and disseminate information on energy efficiency and its conservation among the people. Electricity is a basic need of society and needed for economic growth, for improving the quality of life and for increasing opportunities for development and vulnerable households in all parts of the country with safe and convenient energy at the least-cost, added Badak. His department is working in the field with technically efficient, economically viable and environmentally sustainable manner using different forms of energy, both conventional and non-conventional.

Er. Joram Lali, EE (Power), AK Sinha Regional Director and K Mallick Deputy Director  from National Productivity Center Kolkata were the resource persons while JNC Principal In-charge Dr. SN Jha were present on the occasion.
