Youth rescued, kidnapper nabbed
In a kidnapping case where two youth Amin Ali(25) and Shankar Das (28) went missing after both of them left for Goreswar from Tangla railway station on Sunday last. The same day the family members of the both the youth received a series of telephonic calls for ransom. The callers demanded father of the youth Amin Ali Kasim Ali(52 ) an amount of 1.6 lakhs and family members of Shankar Das Rs.50 thousand for the safe release of their kins.
Accordingly Kasim Ali a mason by profession lodged an F.I.R at Tangla P.S on the same night while family members of Shankar refrained from filling any F.I.R in fear of the safe return of their kin. Tangla police under SDPO Bhergaon tracked the mobile number of the abductor and accordingly on Monday a team of Udalguri police left for Bongaigaon.Under the joint operation of Udalguri police and Bongaigaon police one Shahijudin Sheikh (31) S/O Phulu Sheikh a resident of Durgamari village under Vidyapur Out-post of Bongaigaon was nabbed. Meanwhile getting tip-off the other abductors released both the youths who returned to their home on Tuesday.
Talking to Assam Times, SDPO Bhergaon Pranjal Borah said "The Durgamari area of Bongaigaon is a illegal smugglers hub of tockay geckoy lizards and feral human bones we are investigating the case" As per reports and statement of the accused the abducted youths were kept at Dhulmara Bazaar area under Kokrajhar district.
The accused confessed to his involvement and named Anwar Hussain,Rahman Ali ,Jakir Sheikh,Aminul Sheikh of the same village as his friends involved in the kidnapping.Bongaigaon Police have launched a man-hunt to nabb the others. An Case Tangla PS vide Case No.48/16 under IPC u/s 364A has been lodged an the accused Shahijudin Sheikh has been remanded to 5 days police custody by Rajesh Bodo Sub-divisional judicial magistrate of Udalguri district court on Wednesday.

UDALGURI: The Assam Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of newspaper reports of the alleged incident of police atrocities on a doctor in Chirang district on Friday.
AHRC has issued a notice to the District Magistrate, Chirang to cause an inquiry into the incident where media reports stated that the Officer-in-Charge of Amguri PS in Chirang District not only assaulted Dr. Madhurjya Kakati, in-charge of the Amteka Mini PHC but also made him to kneel down along with two others for not wearing masks.

TANGLA: A devastating inferno gutted six houses in Pujakhola locality of Tangla town on Tuesday night at about 9 pm.
Though the source of the fire has not been ascertained ,fire broke out followed by explosion of six cylinders razing the properties worth lakhs to the ground within minutes.
The house belongs to Fakira Ansari, Manik Ali,Bhim Ram,Raj Kumar Prasad,Akon Rabha and Sankar Basfor.

UDALGURI: A baby hog deer weighing about six kilogram was rescued by Mithu Sarkar and Ankit Tanti, two activists of Green Valley Wild Life Protection Society, an NGO of Orongajuli tea estate area today at about 3.00 pm and handed over this to the Udalguri forest department in a healthy condition.
While talking to this correspondent, Mithu Sarksr informed that the NGO has been instrumental to rescue young ones of hog deers, wild elephants, tiger cubs in the near past too and till date, it has been able to rescue such animals which came to their notice.
