Sahabuddin quits ABMSU

Sahabuddin Ali Ahmed, president of All BTC Minority Students Union (ABMSU) resigned from the presidential post and decided to join in ruling Congress party while existing general secretary Lafikul Islam Ahmed unanimously selected president of the union. 

Ahmed told that he has quit the students union following personal reason to involve himself into active politics. He has resigned from the president of the students union on February 18 and the general body meeting of the students union formally accepted his resignation that has been convened on Sunday. He will join ruling Congress party along with huge supporters on February 24 at Rajib Bhawan in Guwahati.

On the participation into upcoming election Ahmed told that he would not contest in the election, but would campaign for the party to make majority winning of the Congress all over the region. Peoples of the state should get good governance and healthy living among society that is why he has decided to join in the party. Ahmed hold twice president of the students union and served to the society.

A general meeting of the students union was organized on Sunday at Bhotgaon in Kokrajhar where delegates from various district committees of the student body participated and accepted the resignation of Ahmed. 

The executive committee and different district committees of the students union felicitated Sahabuddin with boukey and phulam Gamocha at a farewell function held at Bhotgaon in Kokrajhar. 

Lafikul Islam Ahmed of Kokrajhar, existing general secretary of the students union and Shah Kamal Kandakar of Chirang were unanimously selected as new president and general secretary of the students union respectively. 

Lafikul Islam Ahmed said that the students union gave a farewell to Sahabuddin, ex president of the union, who had served the society having shouldering presidentship of the union. He said that the students union was working for the all round development, specially education among minority community in the region.

An emergency response mock drill was conducted by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) at Habrubari in Kokrajhar district on Friday,which was a part of offsite emergency mock on the IOCL Guwahati-Siliguri underground pipeline to test the preparedness of its emergency personnel. RMC on crack over party supports

Cracks appeared in the Religious Minority Council(RMC),BTC region over the issue of supporting to the Bodoland Peoples Front(BPF) party in the ensuing Assam assembly election.The rift appeared in the council after president Sohrab Khan announced openly that RMC leaves to support the BPF party in the election. KLO untras arrested

Security forces from Assam Police and Army have claimed to capture two-over ground worker (OGW)/linkmen of Kamatapur Liberation Organisation(KLO) from Thuribari area in Kokrajhar district on Wednesday. Women’s Day celebrated at NTPC

Bongaigaon Thermal Power Project also joined the rest of the country in celebrating International Women’s Day here at Salakati on Tuesday in Kokrajhar district. A flag-off ceremony of education study tour of border youth has been organised by 16th Bn SSB Ranighuli at thbattalion headquarter in Kokrajhar on Monday.
