Kherai Puja celebrated at Molandubi

Kherai Puja was celebrated at Molandubi in Kokrajhar on Friday where thousands of devotees thronged and offered their worship to lord Bwrai Bathow.

The Kherai Puja, an oldest and original religious belief of Bodos since immemorial of times, was organised for the first time ever by Baokhungri Dokhora Dularai Gudi Bathow Afad and 54 villages of the district join hands to the celebration and offered their prayers for the peace and unity among society as well world.

Raju Narzary,president, of the Kokrajhar district Dularai Gudi Bathow Afad inaugurated the celebration in the presence of huge devotees.

During the celebration, Dowdini Sarmela Basumatary of Beswargaon performed her traditional custom prayer through the rhythm of Kham, Shipung, Jotha and expressed her potentiality of god given praying for the welfare of devotees and society, besides Jimadari (Ojha) Lachit Mushahary (Narabari) and Douri Akalu Goyary (Molandubi) also performed their tradition of prayer.

The Dowdini,Jimadari and Douri are the three mian important part of the Kherai Puja among Bodos,besides Kham, Shipung, Jotha displays the cultural tradition of the celebration.Dowdini and devotees offered their prayer and dancing with traditional musical instruments.

Karna Kanta Brahma,president of the Baokhungri Dokhora Dularai Gudi Bathow and Prasanta Brahma,organiser of the celebration told that the puja has been organised in traditional belief of Kherai, which is the original religion of the Bodos. The Kherai puja has deep tradition on cultural, literature and language of the Bodos that has been belief since immemorial of times. During the celebration prayer for peace and unity  among all sections of society is the prime attractions for the devotees.

Tulunga Basumatary, secretary of the Kokrajhar district Dularai Gudi Bathow Afad and Nabin Basumatary, president of Youth wing of the Gudi Bathow Afad were also present in the celebration.

Election observer visits Chirang

The Election Observer for Expenditure for 31-Sidli (ST) LAC Jaginder Singh, IRS on Tuesday arrived at Kajalgaon in Chirang district. BJP leader quits

Former president of Kokrajhar district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party, Binati Bala Basumatary resigned from her party membership on Monday.  Basumatary submitted her resignation letter to the state party president citating personal reason . She was Kokrajhar district BJP president for 2011-2015, who had gained strength of the party through her strong leadership in the district. Basumatary's quit of the party ahead assembly election would draw a set back party strength in the Kokrajhar. Basumatary is likely to join ruling BPF party within couple of days, said a close aid of Binati. 

NDFNB(S) ultras held

Three cadres of the NDFB(S) were arrested by security forces in a joint operation belonging to police and army at Hakata village under Barama PS in Baksa district on Sunday. The cadres were identified as Jwangsar Boro @ KK, Mohit Mushahary and Pramod Ramchiary @ Khankari @Raja   of Baksa district. They were actively involved in extortion, arms smuggling and other nefarious and anti national activities and Adivasi carnage in December(2014) and had run away and sheltered themselves in Chennai, till their return. Two pistols along with 4 live rounds, a hand grenade and three mobile phones were recovered from them. Mohit Misahary is a cadre of 39 Batch NDFB and trained in Myanmar.
