Annual Sports and Cultural Week of Tangla College concluds
The Annual Sports and Cultural week of the academic session 2015-2016 of Tangla College concluded today. The four day event would included various Sports competition, Gymnasium competition, culture and literary competition ,cultural rally. On February 6 a discussion on "Use of Plastic and its Effect on environment" which was followed by an Open session presided over by Dr. Prasen Daimari Principal of the college. The session was inagurated by Nerswn Boro Deputy Speaker BTC. Kamali Basumatari MLA Panery LAC was present as the chief guest of the event while Retd. Prof. Binoy Kr. Medhi graced the event as appointed speaker. The meeting was also attended by members of various student bodies. The session concluded with prize distribution ceremony and vote of thanks offered by Principal of the College.

As part of Swach Bharat Abhiyan, sanitation wing of Tangla Town Commitee today organised cleanliness drive in the town. Several areas of the town have been cleaned of garbage, horticulture waste and debris. The cleanliness drive was joined by local people suppoted by members of Akhil Hindi Bhashi Bikas Parishad, students of Dr. BR Ambedkar Hindi Medium school along with the sanitary workers of the town committee. Students were seen holding playcards like 'God gave us green let us keep it clean', Use Dustbin and Live Green etc.
The silver jubilee session of Udalguri district ‘Bathou Mahasabha’ is going to be held at Harisinga from February 6 to 9, 2016. The Harisinga Bathaou Anchalik has taken the initiative to organise this big religious event of the Bodo culture. The venue of the event is fixed at Sonaisri Fwthar, Harisinga. Meanwhile volunteers have been put to work to colect population and education data of the Bodo people and with the collected data a souvenir magazine would be published where data's of population; education, occupation of people number of service holder, cultivates, buisiness man would be published.
The 12 hour Assam bandh called by Hiteswar Barman led AKRSU in demand of ST status to six communities of state namely the Koch Rajbongsi, Adivasi, Motok, Moran, Chutia and Tai Ahoms had paralysed life in the buisiness and educational town of Udalguri district Tangla. All shops and business establishments, educational and financial institutes remained closed during the bandh period. However few schools and Junior colleges with low attendence of students functioned till 12.Except some private vehicles no other vehicles were seen plying on the roads in the town. No untoward incident occurred in the town during the bandh period.
Akhil Hindi Bhasi Vikash Parishad, that works towards the interest of the Hindi speaking communities of four districts of BTC, had its general meeting on November 15 at Tangla where it had formed its regional committee. The meeting was presided over by Central General Secretary Santosh Shah. Speaking on the occassion he said that sole objective of the organization is to uplift the community in socio-economic, educational and cultural spheres. Chhath puja would be observed on riverbanks and near other water bodies on November 17 and 18 at Tangla. The festival include rigorous fast and rituals spanning four days, holy bathing, abstaining from drinking water, presenting offerings(argh) to the Sun God, standing in water and offering prasad In Tangla devotees would offer their prayers on the bank of two rivers Nonai and Naika. Students of Arunodoi Academy Tangla celebrated Children's day in a special way. The students under the guidance of Principal of the academy Napolean Daimari distributed food packets among the patients of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha Hospital, Tangla. Hospital authorities thanked the initiative of the students. Arunodoi Academy has been taking charitable works in the area for the last several years in the interest of society. The school students also donated used clothes and cash in the charity fund.
The 15th foundation day celebration of Tangla college unit body of All BTC Bengali Youth Student's Federation was held on Friday at Bordoloi Bhawan, Tangla. The meeting was presided over by Chief Adviser ABBYSF Shyamal Sarkar. The function was marked by dance programme where students of Tangla college and various Junior College of the town performed.
