Mizo Tawng Made Easy released at press club

A book penned by an Assamese technocrat turned writer AK Pathak was released at Guwahati Press Club on 28 January 2016. Eminent Assamese author and former Asom Sahitya Sabha president LN Bora released the book titled Mizo Tawng Made Easy, where the writer made an effort to make Mizo language understandable for a non-Mizo reader. Bora also pointed out that the primary language of Mizoram should be announced as a modern Indian language.

Anchored by Ms Alaka, the meeting was also addressed by writer Pu Pathak AK, journalist Nava Thakuria, resident commissioner of Mizoram House in Guwahati Lian Sang Zuala Chhakchhuak with the field secretary Rev H Lalhming Mawia.

A special court in Guwahati has remanded 12 ACS, APS and allied service officers to 14 days police custody hours after they were arrested charging them with resorting to forgery in the state civil service examination.  The special court listened to the police who sought them in their remand to probe into the serious charges against them. “Since the charges are serious in nature. We want their custodial interrogation. Nagaland chief minister TR Zeliang hoped that the Centre would do the needful to solve the decade old Naga problem before the upcoming assembly polls.  Zeliang said it to Ram Madhab when  the BJP National Secretary and North East in-charge visited him at his official residence in Kohima on Wednesday.  The chief minister welcomed the BJP leader with a Naga shawl and a memento in presence of MP Neiphiu Rio, Home Minister Y. Police have arrested yet another  ACS grade 1 junior officer wanted in connection with the job for cash scam has surrendered before police hours after police nabbed altogether 12 others.  Identified as Daithun Basumatary, he rushed to the Assam Police Battalion headquarters in Kahilipara where hd surrendered before the investigating officers.  Police have been intensifying search operations against the remaining accused including the relative of Union minister Rajen Gohain.  The ACS grade 1 junior officers include Pallabika Sarma Chaudhury, Dipak  Khanikar, Debojit Bora, Himangsu Chaudhury and Anirudh Roy.
A 3.6 magnitude earthquake jolted Assam on Wednesday. But the people in the north eastern state, mostly, failed to feel it. According to a seismological Centre, originated in Nagaon, the tremor jolted the central parts of the state at 1. 15 midnight.

A local lower court in Guwahati remanded Ranjit Gogoi to three days police custody after police probing the ₹30 crore ad scam arrested the publicity and public relations director alleging his involvement in it.  Gogoi was arrested after marathon interrogation by a team of top ranked police officers who did not received satisfactory reply and wanted his custodial interrogation.  After medical check up in the evening, Gogoi, the Janasanyog director wad brought before the court asking for five days police remand.
