I will continue my writing: Brajendra Kumar Brahma

Noted poet,writer and former president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS), Brajendra Kumar Brahma says that he would continue writing in the field of literary towards building of healthy Bodo literature in his whole life.

Brahma, a soft spoken expressing his happiness after winning of the Sahitya Academy award for his poetry book ‘Baidi Dengkhw Baidi Gab’ this year in Bodo section told that the award recognized him from nation level has encouraged him to write more in his life.

‘I would continue my writings till my death as because poem writing is the my ‘first love’ and creations in the field of Bodo litetary will be the last respiration till death’, said Brahma.  

The poem book,which brought academy  award for Brahma, was published by Bodo Sahitya Sabha in 2012 during the sabha session held at Chekamari of West Bengal.

 Brajendra,who was former president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS), had earlier bagged the Tagore Literary Award, 2009, of the Sahitya Akademi for his book Raithai Mala, a collection of poems, which was published in 2006.

A winner of three awards till date, Brahma was born on June 1, 1943 at Chalani Batabari village in Kokrajhar district. He passed his matriculation in 1959 from Sakti Ashram Vocational High School, BA in 1968 from St Edmund’s College, Shillong and BT in 1977 from Goalpara Government BT College.Brahma,took retired as Headmaster from Banargaon High School in 2000 and associated with various literary works and social activities.

He has been associated with the Bodo Sahitya Sabha since long, besides served as its joint secretary during 1986-89 and 1990-92. During 1986-88, he was the vice-president of the Bodo Writers’ Academy, then an adviser of the same, and subsequently the president of the BSS during 2002-04 and 2005-07 for terms. He was also the chief editor of Gwdan Giyan, a monthly GK in Bodo, and the chief editor of Somni Agan, a monthly magazine of Bodo poetry.

Security forces have claimed to captured another cadre of NDFB-S from Pekuanala area under Kachugaon police station late last night in Kokrajhar district.  Based on a information about presence of the militant outfit, As same Police, CRPF and SSB jawans conducted a joint operation and managed to arrest a cadre of the organization.  The arrested cadre was identified as Nicholas Borgoyary of Sarabill.  A country made riffle and two live ammunition were recovered from him.   
BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary has claimed that his party will occupy Dispur in  the ensuing 2016 Assembly election and no any party can form government without BPF in the state.  Mohilary while speaking the reporters after a party meeting held here Bodofa Cultural Complex, Kokrajhar on Sunday said that his party will win in all 16 seats of BTAD region, besides getting more seats in the state. He said that his party was working for all round development of the people in the region among all sections of communities. He has appealed to maintain peace and harmony among all sections of communities so that social integration can not be disrupted.   
Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Madhav Prasad Sarma launched the Childline 1098 vehicle, a child rescue vehicle, an initiative y the district administration in association with Nedan Foundation on occasion of Children Day on Saturday in Kokrajhar. A hardcore cadre of NDFB(S) was killed in an encounter with security forces at Dwigudung area under Runikata PS in Chirang district on Saturday. The slain militant cadre was identified as Jaola, a wanted cadre of the security forces.  The cadre was involved with carnage on Adivasi in December 23 last year 2014 in Kokrajhar district and NIA had lodged three cases on him. A 9 mm pistol, live ammunition recovered from him.
The Songbijit faction of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB-S) once again show their well-built strength of the organization. The militant outfit organisation observed 29th Boroland Army Raising day at an undisclosed soil on Saturday. Noted writer and former general secretary of Bodo sahitya sabha Tarun Phukon Basumatary breathed his last on Thursday evening at his own residence at Dhobai in Kokrajhar district. Basumatary was suffering from his ailment since few months and was taking treatment in various hospitals and breathed his last by 5 PM on Thursday.He has left his son and relatives.
