I will continue my writing: Brajendra Kumar Brahma

Noted poet,writer and former president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS), Brajendra Kumar Brahma says that he would continue writing in the field of literary towards building of healthy Bodo literature in his whole life.

Brahma, a soft spoken expressing his happiness after winning of the Sahitya Academy award for his poetry book ‘Baidi Dengkhw Baidi Gab’ this year in Bodo section told that the award recognized him from nation level has encouraged him to write more in his life.

‘I would continue my writings till my death as because poem writing is the my ‘first love’ and creations in the field of Bodo litetary will be the last respiration till death’, said Brahma.  

The poem book,which brought academy  award for Brahma, was published by Bodo Sahitya Sabha in 2012 during the sabha session held at Chekamari of West Bengal.

 Brajendra,who was former president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS), had earlier bagged the Tagore Literary Award, 2009, of the Sahitya Akademi for his book Raithai Mala, a collection of poems, which was published in 2006.

A winner of three awards till date, Brahma was born on June 1, 1943 at Chalani Batabari village in Kokrajhar district. He passed his matriculation in 1959 from Sakti Ashram Vocational High School, BA in 1968 from St Edmund’s College, Shillong and BT in 1977 from Goalpara Government BT College.Brahma,took retired as Headmaster from Banargaon High School in 2000 and associated with various literary works and social activities.

He has been associated with the Bodo Sahitya Sabha since long, besides served as its joint secretary during 1986-89 and 1990-92. During 1986-88, he was the vice-president of the Bodo Writers’ Academy, then an adviser of the same, and subsequently the president of the BSS during 2002-04 and 2005-07 for terms. He was also the chief editor of Gwdan Giyan, a monthly GK in Bodo, and the chief editor of Somni Agan, a monthly magazine of Bodo poetry.

Explosive recovered in railway track

A powerful explosive was recovered from the railway track near Salakati railway station in Kokrajhar today around 11.35 am. Police said, railway gangmen on duty noticed a suspected bag along the railway track, 50 metres away from Salakati station and informed the raiwlay police. NDFB-S cadre killed

A NDFB-S cadre was killed in an encounter at Silaimara Tipkai under Bagribari PS early this morning in Kokrajhar.  Getting a tip top information about presence of militants in the area, a joint team from police and 7Jat army conducted operation since late last and continued this morning around 5.20 am and a strong gun fight in between security forces and militants was held where a militant was killed.   The slain militant was identified as Nerswn Brahma alias Naidaw, a Bangladesh trained and cadre of 40th batch of the outfit organization. Magisterial enquiry order in Chirang

The Chirang district magistrate has detailed two magistrates for magisterial enquiry into two separate incidents in October & November last of this year in the district.  Bijni executive magistrate Dhruba Jyoti Das and Chirang executive magistrate Jitu Kumar Barman were detailed to enquire into incidents occurred in two separates at North Amlaiguri under Panbari police outpost and Dwigudung under Runikatha police station in the district. Six arrested

In the follow up of the busting of a training camp of Muslim fundamentalist in Chirang district in September last, Chirang police today arrested  6 more Jehadi fundamentalist from different locations across the three district of Chirang, Kokrajhar and Goalpara district . Missing students rescued from West Bengal

Five students, who went missing from Saralpara area on November 28 were rescued today Bengduba of West Bengal after a strong search jointly organized by police and parents.  Students of Saralpara ME School who are age group between 11-14 were went missing from Saralpara area since Novenmber 28 last along the Indo-Bhutan border in Kokrajhar district, which had been created resented among guardian and parents. Bhutanese vehicle set on fire

Angry public set on fire a Bhutanese vehicle after hit and seriously injured a 8 years old boy Sahil Rehman, a student of Dhaligaon Hindi school this morning nearat Dhaligaon, near Bongaigaon Refinery in Chirang district. Students missing from Saralpara

Five students from Saralpara area have been missing since Novenmber 28 last along the Indo-Bhutan border in Kokrajhar district has been created resented among guardian and parents. Rail blockade by protesting teachers

100 years of first Bodo book

Commemorating the 100 years of Boroni Phisa O' Ayen(Son of the Boros & its Customary Laws), the first printed book in Bodo language, the Bodo Writers' Academy is celebrating the occasion with a two-day long programme on December 19 -20 next here in Kokrajhar.
