Explosive recovered in railway track
A powerful explosive was recovered from the railway track near Salakati railway station in Kokrajhar today around 11.35 am.
Police said, railway gangmen on duty noticed a suspected bag along the railway track, 50 metres away from Salakati station and informed the raiwlay police. Sources said railway gangman Altaf Hussain first notice the bag and heard a ticckling sound and immedialely informed the railway police.
Source said the bomb kept inside a steel container was wrapped by clothes and kept in a black bag.
Local sources said, residents staying near railway track saw the bag thrown from inside the Up-Kamrup Express.
The bomb was later defused by bomb expert.
Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police SP Saikia said railway gangmen on duty noticed the suspected object and informed the officials at salakati raiwlay station. ‘A explosive device was reocvered from the raiwlay track. But we are yet to ascertain if it’s a IED or other explsoive device. It wil be confirm only after it is sent for confirmation.
On the group or militants involved in keeping the explosive, he said everything will be known only after investigation is over.
