Kamatapur bandh affects normal life in Kokrajhar
Normal life in Kokrajhar, heart town of BTAD administration was paralyzed today following 24-hours Kamatapur bandh called by Koch Rajbongsi United Forum demanding granting of Scheduled Tribes (ST) status, creation of separate Kamatapur state.
All kinds of road transport communication, business institutions like bank, bazaar, market, shop were remained closed during the bandh which was started from 5AM today.
Main road in Kokrajhar along with 31C national Highway was look deserted following the bandh. Most of the govt offices saw a thin attendance. However, some of private vehicle are saw plying in the riads and emergency services like medical, water supply were exempted from the purview of bandh.
The united forum called the bandh demanding early creation of separate Kamatapur state which comprises of Lower Asssam districts and some districts of West Bengal state, granting of ST status to the Koch Rajbongsi community and recognisation of Koch Rajbongsi language as official language in the state.

Barhoongka AC from Kokrajhar beat Dihung SC from Kagrabari 1-0 in Tuesday's match of Tikendra Brahma and Aolang Brahma memorial football trophy at Kagrabari ground in Kokrajhar.
