Much to a major boost for Congress in rank and file in Assam, Prashant Kishore has agreed to help the ruling party in the assembly polls March next year.
The brain behind the grand alliance in Bihar, who held a round of informal talks with Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi recently, left New Delhi for Guwahati on Thursday afternoon.
Sources told Assam Times in New Delhi that the poll Chanakya will hunker down with Tarun Gogoi and Rahul Gandhi on Friday to finalise the pre poll strategy when the Congress vice president will on a two days visit to the state on Friday.
"Gogoi recently talked to Prashant at the instance of Rahulji who agreed, in principle, to help Gogoi retain the power in Dispur," said a senior AICC leader.
Notably, former Chief Minister and AGP leader Prafulla Kumar Mahanta met Kishore in the capital on Tuesday evening and discuss the strategy an anti-Congress and anti-BJP wave in Assam. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar helped Mahanta met the poll strategist at the Bihar Bhawan in the evening.

KOKRAJHAR: The Kokrajhar police have detained at least 15 persons for allegedly vandalizing the statute of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee at Rabindra Nagar in Kokrajhar. They were detained after the All India Bengali Youth Students Federation demanded early identification of involved culprits and punished. On the other hand. HAILAKANDI: Unidentified miscreants gangraped and killed a Reang girl inside her house in Hailakandi sending huge wave cinemas of shock and anger across the state on Thursday. The incident of double crime took place at Betchera gaon in Katlichera on Wednesday evening where miscreants were believed to have forcibly stormed in to the house where the Reang girl was inside it in the absence of other family members. Kokrajhar,Mar 13: Security forces apprehended three rebels belonging to the National Sathali Liberation Army (NSLA) from Gossaigaon area in Kokrajhar district on Tuesday. GUWAHATI: The CID team probing the loan scam in the Punjab National Bank in Guwahati arrested four persons including a bank officer on Tuesday. Identified as Bharat Singh, DK Chaudhury, Anil Tiwary and PK Bhuyan, they were arrested at the end of a five hour ling interrogation on Monday night.
