Prasant to help Gogoi retain power!

Much to a major boost for Congress in rank and file in Assam, Prashant Kishore has agreed to help the ruling party in the assembly polls March next year.

The brain behind the grand alliance in Bihar, who held a round of informal talks with Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi recently, left New Delhi for Guwahati on Thursday afternoon.

Sources told Assam Times in New Delhi that the poll Chanakya will hunker down with Tarun Gogoi and Rahul Gandhi on Friday to finalise the pre poll strategy when the Congress vice president will on a two days visit to the state on Friday.

"Gogoi recently talked to Prashant at the instance of Rahulji who agreed, in principle, to help Gogoi retain the power in Dispur," said a senior AICC leader.

Notably, former Chief Minister and AGP leader Prafulla Kumar Mahanta met Kishore in the capital on Tuesday evening and discuss the strategy an anti-Congress and anti-BJP wave in Assam. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar helped Mahanta met the poll strategist at the Bihar Bhawan in the evening.

The city police arrested an ULFA(I) cadre on last night from the Panjabari locality. Acting on a tip-off the police nabbed him from near the Srimanta Shankardeva Kalakeshtra at around 9pm. According to police the cadre has been identified as Bitopan Sonowal of Dibrugarh. He came the city for  subversive activities on or before the arrival of PM Narendra Modi, sources revealed. Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal once again reiterated that his government will welcome and accept 'constructive criticism'. Guwahati: Senior journalist Pranabjit Doloi has passed away Monday afternoon (around 5.30 pm on 30 December 2019) in a private hospital. He was suffering from liver related ailments for some time. Started his career in the Sentinel group as a reporter Doloi later worked for satellite news channels including Dy365, Frontier TV, NewsTimeAssam and NewsNetwork. He also earned applauses as a documentary filmmaker. Doloi (50) left behind wife, only son with other relatives and well-wishers. His last rites will performed tomorrow in North Guwahati and prior to that the city-based media fraternity will pay their last respects to Doloi at Guwahati Press Club by 9.30 am.
