Much to a major boost for Congress in rank and file in Assam, Prashant Kishore has agreed to help the ruling party in the assembly polls March next year.
The brain behind the grand alliance in Bihar, who held a round of informal talks with Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi recently, left New Delhi for Guwahati on Thursday afternoon.
Sources told Assam Times in New Delhi that the poll Chanakya will hunker down with Tarun Gogoi and Rahul Gandhi on Friday to finalise the pre poll strategy when the Congress vice president will on a two days visit to the state on Friday.
"Gogoi recently talked to Prashant at the instance of Rahulji who agreed, in principle, to help Gogoi retain the power in Dispur," said a senior AICC leader.
Notably, former Chief Minister and AGP leader Prafulla Kumar Mahanta met Kishore in the capital on Tuesday evening and discuss the strategy an anti-Congress and anti-BJP wave in Assam. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar helped Mahanta met the poll strategist at the Bihar Bhawan in the evening.

KOKRAJHAR: The Kokrajhar police have eliminated yet another top NDFB-S rebel during a heavy gun battle in the BTAD district on Wednesday. According to SP Rajen Singh, the encounter took place at Dhumbazar area where the rebel was killed on the spot. KOKRAJHAR: The Kokrajhar police have arrested Insaf Ali from Sesapani on Tuesday 48 hours after he killed an Adivasi woman with whom he had illicit relations. Insaf, who was arrested along with his mother and sister in law confessed to have killed the woman who stayed in his house for three days. NEW DELHI: Chief minister Sarbanabda Sonowal had urged prime minister Narendra Modi to take up the Brahmaputra issue with Beijing where the mighty river that originates in Tibet now keeps flowing with muddy water.
