Incentive to brilliant students in BTC

Altogether five brilliant students who secured positions in the last HSLC and HS examinations for the year 2014 & 2015 were  felicitated and handed over cheque amounting Rs 2 lakhs each by the Director of Education, BTC .

BTC deputy chief, handed over the cheques at his office chamber at the BTC Secretariat in Kokrajhar today. 

Among the students receiving the cheques are Hriday Jyoti Ojha from National Pioneer College, Tangla of Ualguri, who stood 5th position in the HS in 2014, Ashim Majumdar of St John’s HS school, Barama of Baksa who stood 4th position in the HSLC in 2015, Bibekajyoti Boro of Sankardev Vidyaneketan, Tamulpur in Baksa, 10 position in the HSLC in 2015, Aithjhya Bhaduri and Priyasa Kundu, both  of Bongaigaon Refinery HS school, Dhaligaon in Chirang and secured 5th and 8th position respectively in the HSLC 2015.

Borgoyary said that the BTC authority was   working to encourage the students to work hard and council will be giving helping hand to brilliant students who are aspired tithe good career in their higher studies. He said 18 students from the Bodoland region who have been selected and got admitted in the IIT and IIM will also be given the incentive for their higher studies. 

Borgoyary also said that BTC authority will give scholarships to 25-30 brilliant students preparing for UPSC examination from the region.

The World AIDS Day was organised in Kokrajhar with various awarness programme among the public. The Discovery Club, a Kokrajhar based NGO observed the day by organizing a mass campaign on the occasion by distributing IEC materials and Red Ribbon Badges at Kokrajhar. 4000 leaflets, 1200 Red ribbon badges were distributed among the public. Police recovered body of Taracharan Das, 55, peon of Assam Gramin Vikash Bank, Kokrajhar branch this evening in Kokrajhar.  According to police, body of Das was found on death condition at Kapili lodge above the bank complex building when after bank official noticed that his lifeless body lying inside a room.  Police recovered the body breaking door of the room in the presence of bank official and magistrate. Forest department and security personnel  apprehend three timber smugglers and recovered Sal timbers on Tuesday morning in a joint operation conducted inside Jharbari and Ultapani range under Haltugaon forest division in Kokrajhar.  Acting on a tiptop information about timber smugglers, forest department, security personnel from Assam Police, SSB, CRPF, Black Commando and Army conducted a joint operation since late last night and managed to arrest three timber smugglers, besides recovery of  over 50 pieces of Sal logs from the Haltugaon reserve forest. They were identified as Khwnasad Basumatary, Annai Brahma and Dilip Basumatary.
