Arunachal guv reviews law and order

Arunachal Pradesh governor JP Rajkhowa on Thursday reviewed law and order in view of the Supreme Court’s recent judgment concerning settlement and grant of citizenship to the Chakma-Hajong refugees of 1964-69 stream.

Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, home minister Tanga Byaling, Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi, DGP S. Nithianandan were present in the meeting along with senior officers.

Rajkhowa insisted on effective reporting of cases through filing of FIR with the Police Stations and more focus on prosecution and conviction.

He also stated that any law and order situation, if created by any organization or group of miscreants would have to be dealt with firmly in a non-discriminatory manner.

The governor stressed that there must be no breach of the peace whatsoever and no breakdown of law and order or any kind of economic blockade be allowed as such unlawful activities apart from hurting the common men, will also weaken the stand of the State Government and the indigenous people.
