Vasundhara entrepreneur award

The 2nd Vasundhara NE Woman Entrepreneur will be conferred on September 19 at Shillong. instituted by Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, the wvent will see eight exceptionally talented women entrepreneurs from eight states of Northeast India being awarded in the state winners category and one among them being crowned with the coveted award for the year 2013-14.

M. Rajeshwar Rao, Chief General Manager, Financial Markets Operation Department, Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai will grace the occasion as Chief Guest besides a host of dignitaries who will grace the occasion as distinguished guests.

Instituted in 2014 by the Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati, it has emerged as a prestigious and one of a kind award and felicitation program covering the eight states of entire NE region. The award given to exceptional woman entrepreneurs with unique business ventures having a strong social commitment are selected by a selection panel constituted with eminent personalities from different sector related with entrepreneurship and business.

The state winners as has been declared by the selection panel for the  Vasundhara  NE Woman Entrepreneur of the year (2013-14) award are Lata Lepcha from Sikkim, Toko Likha Yaram from Arunachal Pradesh, T. Jemima Achumi from Nagaland, Moiregthem Muktamani Devi from Manipur, Lalhimpuii Hmar from Mizoram, Sukla Rani Debbarma from Tripura, Queency Thangkhiew from Meghalaya and Kanta Dey from Assam.

All of these women selected for the award have displayed rare sense of entrepreneurship and uniqueness in their idea and vision. For instance, while Smti T. Jemima Achumi of Nagaland has set up a fully automatic meat processing center with imported machineries from Germany and France, Toko Likha Yaram of Arunachal Pradesh has set up a cold storage at Banderdewa. Likewise Moiregthem Muktamani Devi of Manipur produces woolen knitted shoes and supplies to Indian army and also exports to countries such as UK, Australia and Korea. Their enterprises are exemplary in the otherwise male dominated sector of business and industry for which they have been identified and are being honoured, said Asomee Dutta Baruah, General Secretary of Sreemanta Sankar Mission of Guwahati.

The winner will walks away with a cash award of Rs. 25,000 besides trophy, a citation and a shawl and the eight state winners are being honoured with cash award of Rs. 10,000, a trophy, a citation and a shawl each.

Instituted with the sole objective of identifying the latent talents among the hardworking women entrepreneurs of NE region and recognizing and encouraging them for their endeavor and business achievements, the  award in its second year is being collaborated by the SME Division of the State Bank of India, NE Region and the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong. The award ceremony has also been organized during the IIM, Shillong annual management conclave  Emerge 2015 which will take place on 19th and 20th September, 2015.

Assam, Arunachal, Nagaland, Mizoram announce lockdowns

Guwahati: The State governments of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Mizoram have declared Statewide lockdowns till the midnight of March 31. Till date Manipur has reported a single case of COVID-19 on Tuesday morning. 5-days lock down to counter COVID19

Guwahati: Even after COVID 19 has not afflicted the state,  a 5 days lock down is in place across Assam from Tuesday to keep the killer virus at bay. State health minister Hemanta Biswa Sarma said the lock down is coming into force from 5 in the morning where the civilians would be allowed to be on the road only for groceries and pharmacies. Animal Welfare Board of India appealed all the citizens of India not to stray their pets under the fear of COVID-19.
