Police have arrested two poachers during an operation in Karbi Anglong district in the wee hours on Monday and recovered skins and bones of wild animals from their possession.
According to information, Amal Ingty of Langhing Manikpur was picked up firstly during a routine check up. Later on the basis of confessional statements Montu Gogoi of Howraghat was arrested. Meanwhile, forest guards have arrested a poacher on Sunday night while he was trying to enter into the Bagori range of the Kazirnaga national Park. He is Lakhidev Saikia of Rangsali. Two others namely Thaneswar Hazarika with two of his aides accompanied him managed to flee. Hazarika is a resident of Dholpur in Lakhimpur while the two others were from Manipur.
Acting on confessional statements from Saikia, forest guards on Sunday midnight picked up Bijoy Das, Pranab Baruah, Joyprakash Das, Prasanta Das, Hiramon Das and Rintu Hazarika from Rangsali and Telegoni areas respectively.
