Noted singer died

Noted Bodo singer, lyric and social worker Phanindra Nath Brahma (Phani Serja) died at a private hospital in Siliguri after prolong illness on Friday. He was 71. Brahma was suffering from diabetes, knee injury and was admitted to the hospital.  

Brahma was a retired teacher and was associated with various social activities. He had presented first violin promotion music at the Bodo programme in All India Radio (AIR), Guwahati. He was associated with Bodo cultural organisation since it's inception till his death. He has left behind his wife, son and daughter. 

Several organization including All Bodo Students Union ( ABSU), Bodo sahitya sabha condoled his death and prayed for his eternal peace.

Lecture Programme in Bodoland University

Padmashri (Dr) Kameswar Brahma, president of  Bodo Sahitya Sabha(BSS) has been named for the Pramod Chandra Brahma Literary Award, 2016 instituted by BTC education department. Brahma has been named for the award for his relentless contribution towards development of literary in his life long. Brahma born at Bhumka village under Gossaigaon subdivision of Kokrajhar district has authored many books and research works on Bodo and tribal cultures. Two jehadis arrested

Police apprehended two Muslim Fundamentalist cadres from Gossaigaon and Guwahati in two separate search operations on Monday night.  According to BTAD (IGP) LR Bishnoi, Chirang, Kokrajhar and City police jointly conducted search operation against Muslim fundamentalist and able to arrest two cadres from Gossaigaon of Kokrajhar district and Guwahati.  They were identified as Jahidul Islam of Tulsibil and Pota Miyan of Tulsibil of Kokrajhar district.  A factory made pistol, two round bullets were recovered from them.

Daizy Basumatary crowned Miss Haina

Daizy Basumatary crowned Miss Haina with winning in the Bodoland Fashion Hunt Miss Haina, 2016. This is the first ever in Bodoland as well Lower Assam region, has been organized by Nexus Entertainment at Bodofa Cultural complex on Sunday in Kokrajhar. She was awarded cash Rs. 25,000 along with crown and citation.
