Shanti sadvabna workshop in Kokrajhar

A three days Shanti Sadvabna Workshop was held at Gaonburah Bhawan in Kokrajhar to share view and exchange of integration among public from riot affected areas of the BTAD districts. 

Student and gaonburahs from various districts of the BTAD region participated in the Shanti Sadvabna workshop, was organised by the Gandhi Peace Foundation and Sarva Seva Sangh from various districts of the BTAD region. 

BTC executive member Doneswar Goyary graced the workshop today and interacted with peace worker stressed to create peace and unity among society in the region. 

Sushree Radha Bhatt, chairperson of Gandhi Peace Foundation told that the foundation has been  working for the peace and unity among multi community in the region as the region had witnessed ethnic riots in 2012 which had created resented among common peoples. 

She said that the foundation has also eyedstable unity and development in the region and urged the society to go ahead with strong steps to bring healthy and suitable situation in the region. 

Bhatt, administered oath of non violence and social integrity among various community in the region in the workshop and maintaining that peoples should be equipped well and consciousness whole stepping new status of the society. 

Dr Ramjee Singh, veteran sarvodaya leader and former vice chancellor, Chandan Pal, Sheik Hussain were attended and spoke about stepping of social upliftment through integration.

Police arrested 12 persons in connection with Gossaigaon shoot out incident  today for suspecting involvement with incident and linkmen of NSLA militants.Sunil Kumar, Kokrajhar SP said the Adivasi militants have done the incident due to nonpayment of demanded extortion from contractors of construction. One Pradip Basumatary (24) was arrested for extorting money from the shop owners in the heart of Kokrajhar town near Assam Oil Petrol pump on Friday. Police said that two fake NDFB (S) were demanding Rs 17 lakhs from the shop owner.Police sources said that the two extortionists came in Kokrajhar town for collecting money from the shops and had prior information about their movement.Basumatary was arrested and another Daoki escaped from the spot, police said.Police also claimed to have recovered six live ammunition from the person. Basumatary claimed that they had come to collect money from the shops.
