Incessant rain for the last couple of days has paralyzed life in Pasighat and adjoining areas. Hilly rivers and streams are seen overflowing and posing a threat to road communication, paddy fields, horticulture gardens, fishponds, irrigation channels and human habitations. Heavy showers has caused water clogging in several places besides inundating paddy field at Pasighat, Sille, Ruksin and Mebo circles.
Notorious Poglek River, locally known as Pagla river has damaged standing crops in vast areas besides disrupting road communication between Pasighat and Yagrung. Advisor to Chief Minister Bosiram Siram along with Deputy Commissioner Isha Khosla, ZPC Kaling Dai, and PRI leaders and officers dashed to the river site on Friday to oversee the situation and set in motion measures to deal with the situation.
At Pasighat, Advisor Siram along with ZPC, PMC Chief Councilor, Dy. Director and engineers of UrbanDevelopment on Saturay visited and observed many inundated places in Airfield, Jarku, Jarkong, Banskota and Police line areas due to lack of proper drainage system. ‘A beneficial project was taken up me but couldn’t materialized due to announcement of model code of conduct last year. However, the work will startsoon to develop the areas by UrbanDevelopment department. Poor drainage system coupled with bad rain water disposal arrangement only blocked smooth movements in the said areas,” he stated. Siram advised the people not to be panic and assured that all precautionary measures have been put in place.
Meanwhile, Disaster Management department has informed that the water level of River Siang is flowing bellow dangerlevel (153.37 M, at 3 PM) and there is no chance of abnormality.

Deputy Commissioner Isha Khosla reviewed the law and order situation at a meeting with the magistrate and police officers in Pasighat township on Tuesday.Khosla reviewed the crime scene discussed the charge sheet and production of UTPs. He also directed police to bring the investigation to its logical conclusion in a time bound manner. She instructed the DTO and the police to check vehicular movement at different locations in the township, regular basis.
