Community forest protection awareness
A capacity building and awareness program for the youth groups and village community for protection of community forest and biodiversity was held Tuesday at Jaksongram Village in Baghmara in West Garo Hills district.
The main objectives of the programme were to build capacity of the youths and village members for protection of village forest and biodiversity in South Garo Hills district of Meghalaya. Jaksongram village is located at NH-62 about 7 km before reaches to Baghmara town the Head Quarter of South Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.
The participants were from Dabit Bibra Youth Club and Garo Students’ Union, Southern Zone, Baghmara. Dando D. Shira from India Foundation, North East program attended as the Resource person to the program and Ronald Sangma from Simsang Ecotourism Society also attended as the resource person. The programme was conducted by a team of youth headed by Prosper Marak.

A songchristian competition pulled huge crowd on Sunday organized by the Karukol Cultural Development Committee at Karukol Playground.
