Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said that Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma’s entry into BJP will put the people in utter confusion over the chief ministerial candidate.
Hours after Dr Sarma unofficially joined BJP, Gogoi said that if Sarma is made the chief ministerial candidate then what is in store for Sarbananda Sonowal and Siddharth Bhattacharya.
Talking to reports Gogoi wondered why and how Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma joined BJP a day after he was proud of his party’s victory in the Tiwa autonomous council polls.

Suspected NDFB-S have freed a tea garden manager 9 days after he was kidnapped from his house in Sonitpur district.Identified as Bharat Singh Rathorh, the Pabhoi Tea Estate manager in Tinisuti area in Bisswanath Chaliali was released along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border on Tuesday night.Hours after the release, he reached the local police station seeking help to leave for the tea garden on Wednesday. He was kidnapped by a group of 10 armed youths at gunpoint on January 16 from his own residence.

Suspected KLO militants shot dead a businessman in Kokrajhar on Tuesday. The incident took place in the heart of the town at around 8 in the evening. Armed miscreants sprayed several rounds of bullets on a shop keeper on his way back to his home. The businessman was killed on the spot.
Policemen rushed to the spot. But by then, the militants managed to escape. This is the fifth cases of death in BTAD areas within this week.

Yet another incident of rape seems to have brought bad name for Lakhimpur.The incident took place in Boginadi again where the victim is a girl of Eighth standard. The 50 year old accused perpetrator is in police custody after he raped the minor girl in the absence of her parents on Sunday.Identified as Toseshwar Hazarika, the accused was caught by the local residents and was beaten up before being handed over to police.
