APCC forms assessment panel

Assam Congress poll panel on Tuesday set up a special committee to assess the political situation in the Lok Sabha seats.

Presided over by APCC president Bhubneswar Kalita in presence of chief minister Tarun Gogoi and AICC observers Dr CP Joshi and Avinash Pandey, the meeting asked Pranati Phukan to assess the Jorhat and Nagaon seat, Sarat Borkotoky in Barpeta and Dr Hemoprabha Saikia in Lakhimpur. The committee members would leave for the constituencies on January 22 and 23.

They would submit their findings on January 27 to help the screening body shortlist panels of candidates against each of the 14 seats.
