The power former minister in the Tarun Gogoi cabinet formally joined the saffron party after his initial meeting with BJP president Amit Shah in New Delhi on Sunday.

ULFA(I) kills senior leader

A senior ULFA leader belonging to the Paresh Baruah faction is learnt to have met punishment for his alleged involvement in a financial scam.According to sources, the ULFA (I) leader is believed to be Partha Pratim Gogoi who has been partially looking after the finance side for the last couple of years.Gogoi, the self styled eastern area commander was killed by the organization a few days back. Chief minister Tarun Gogoi said that he would welcome Paresh Baruah if ULFA((I) comes forward to contest in the polls.Talking to reporters on Wednesday in Dispur, Gogoi said that he would be happy if the outfit along with the Akhil Gogoi—led KMSS and Aam Admi Party join the election process.   

Youths crushed to death

Two local youths were killed in Nagaon district when a speeding truck rammed in to their scooter on Tuesday.The tragic mishap took place on the national highway in Bebejia when the scooter in which the youths were riding on from the market.The duo died on the spot. Mooshahary to fight from Kokrajhar

The party is set to field candidates in 8 seats this time.Party sources told assamtimes that they are in touch with BJP and AGP to help their candidate win the Rajya Sabbha polls slated for February 7.

Goswami’s death shrouded in mystery

Dr Bhagawan Goswami’s death seems to have shrouded in mystery a day after the lifeless professor of the Cotton College was recovered on the Brahmaputra in Panbazar on Monday.After the post mortem, his family members have called it a cold blooded murder citing a number of clues. His family members claimed to have seen an injury mark on the forehead of the body along with some mysterious position which suggested it a case of murder..His wife demanded a high level probe to ascertain the truth behind the mysterious death of Dr Goswami. The body was cremated on Tuesday morning after clearing all medical formalities.
