The power former minister in the Tarun Gogoi cabinet formally joined the saffron party after his initial meeting with BJP president Amit Shah in New Delhi on Sunday.

Rajya Sabha polls are slated for February 7. The Election Commission is set to hold polls for three Rajya Sabha seats from Assam on February 7.According to information available with assamtimes, the country’s poll panel is expected to issue poll notification on January 21 for the three seats. The results are expected on the voting day.Notably, the term for three sitting Rajya Sabha members will end in March this year. Dr Bhagawan Goswami’s body was recovered in Panbazar nine days after the Cotton College professor went missing from Chandmari in Guwahati. His body was spotted floating on the river Brahmaputra just behind the Deputy Commission’s old residence in the afternoon.
