Thousands of people came out of their houses in Nazira to join the NRC awareness campaign on Saturday. Organized by Nazira AASU unit, the awareness rally got overwhelming response from all sections of the society. Over thousands of AASU activists took part in the rally who appealed to the people to submit their NRC form assoonas possible. On the occasion of the 68th Republic Day all citizens pf our country salute our National Flag and hoisted the Tricolour everywhere as a mark of Honour to it. But it is regret to say that due to the negligence of the teachers of the 310 No Molagaon government L.P. School of Nazira the Tricolour was lying down in the ground and latter Nazira administration recovered it with the police of Nazira police station.Investigation is going on in this regard but no case is registered for it in Nazira police station till today.
The 68th Republic Day observed in different places of Nazira Sub division. CPI leaders and activists in Nazira joined the statewide protest on Wednesday outlining the issues of price hike, inflation, Flood and erosion. ULFA(I) virtually scorned the security forces on Monday when the rebels in search of the sovereign Asom exploded a bomb in Charaideo when the district joined the Independence Day on Monday. The explosion took place at Pathaligarh at 8 in the morning which made a huge crater on the spot under the impact of the explosion. There was no casualty or injury.

Forest officials in Sivasagar district captured a leopard which has been creating a reign of terror at a tea garden area in Geleky. Acting on the complaints of the local residents in the Modi Tea Estate area, the forest officials with the help of a group of people laid a trap where the animal landed on Friday night. Then it was sent to a safe place to be rehabilitated much to a major respite for hundreds of people in the entire area who has already lost their domestic animals like cows, goats and pigs.
Freedom fighter, president of Nazira District Freedom Fighters Association and veteran Congress leader Subha Gogoi breathed his last at his residence at Mazenga on Thursday. He was 95 and survived by his wife and three sons. MLA of Nazira Debobrate Saikia, ex. Minister Hemoprobha Saikia, ex. MP Durpad Borgohain and several organisations condoled in his death.
