BTAD areas are going to get the dubious distinction of becoming another zone of extra judicial killing like Manipur.
Identified as Ratneswar Brahma, the villager in Panbari area in Chirang district was succumbed to injuries hours after security picked up him touching off a seismic wave of reaction across the state.
Caught in a barrage of criticism, the authorities have ordered a magisterial enquiry into the incident where Brahma was picked up by the Panbari based 7th Sikh Li Regiment.
According to official sources, Chirang district magistrate Rupak Kumar Mazumdar has asked Bijni executive magistrate Gakul Chandra Brahma to probe the incident.
The inquiry will find out the circumstances under which he was kept in detention camp by the Panbari stationed Army, 7th Sikh Li Regiment.
Notably, such incident triggered no less controversy and protest in Manipur during the last couple of years forcing the Supreme Court to set up a special cell to probe the incident.
