Dr Birubala Rabha conferred UN Brahma award

Noted social activist and organiser of Mission Birubala Dr Birubala Rabha was conferred the 12th Upendra Nath Brahma Soldier of Humanity Award, 2015 at a function held at Commerce College auditorium hall today in Kokrajhar. 

The award has been giving every year in the name of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, former president of the All Bodo Students Union ( ABSU) and noted educationist by Upendra Nath Brahma Trust (UNBT) to keep alive of ideology and philosophy among society. 

The award carries a citation, momento, traditional Aronai and cash 50,000. 

Dr. Rabha accepting the award expressed her happiness said that it has encouraged more to work to the social protection among society. She said that she will gain more step to create awareness more on social protection and humanity. 

Among others, noted writer Brajendra Kumar Brahma, sahitya academy awardee Janil Kumar Brahma, Pramod Boro, president of Absu, UG Brahma, ex MP were present on the occasion.

Over 1000 delegates from various district of Assam thronged Kokrajhar to attend the 12th Adivasi Mahasabha which got underway on Friday. Organised by the All Adivasi Students Association of Assam, the event got off to a colourful start at Magurmari High School ground in Kokrajhar.Former minister Pramila Rani Brahma attended the first session and welcomed the delegates. Security forces caught a hardcore NDFB-S militant during an operation in Kokrajhar on Friday. Identified as Gendra Basumatary alias Galore, he was apprehended from Bismuri Galabari area in Kokrajhar district in a joint operation by army and police. One 7.62 mm pistol and two live ammunition of 7.62 mm pistol were recovered from him.

Amid continuous agitation, Kokrajhar MLA Pramila Rani Brahma has expressed grave concern over the present situation of the Bineswar Brahma Engineering College(BBEC) at Chandrapara in the district.The former minister was on her stock taking visit to the college on Wednesday and talked to the college authorities and the agitating students.She agreed that college has yet to get a full fledged status of an engineering college apart from the lack of a permanent principal and faculty members to ensure proper educational facility for the students.
