Poachers killed another rhino

Poachers killed another one horned rhinoceros in Assam and fled with its horn. Patrolling forest guards had found dehorned bullet injuries carcass of an adult male rhino near Nilachalmari area under Dhekiajuli police station in Sonitpur district on Tuesday morning.

A top forest official said that, the rhino came out from Orang National Park for search food on last night and poachers killed the rhino near a paddy field at the area.

"Poachers had managed to flee with its horn. Two bullet marks had found in the carcass of the male rhino, " the forest official said.

Police and forest team had launched operation against  poachers at the area.

Poachers killed at least 16 rhinos including three in Orang National Park in this year so far.

Security forces on Saturday had apprehended two militants belonging to Muslim Tiger Force of Assam (MTFA) in Assam's Kokrajhar district, officials said.Defence spokesman based in Guwahati said that, based on intelligence input, army and police had jointly launched operation at Chokhilepara area in the BTAD district and nabbed the militant duo.The nabbed militants were identified as Nur Islam and Md. Two militants of anti-talk faction group of Karbi Longri National Liberation Front (KLNLF) were killed in an encounter with the police in Karbi Anglong district, Assam on May 19, officials said. A newly-wed couple was killed in a lightning strike and a body found in Nagaon districton May 16, officials said. Nagaon SP Nitul Gogoi said, the couple died Sunday when lightning struck their home in village Bokulguri under Kampur PS in Nagaon district.
