Opposition demands increase of MCLA fund

Opposition members in BTC Legislative Assembly demanded increase of Member of Council Legislative Assembly Area Development fund(MCLAAD) to gain more development of the constituencies in the council to Rs.50 lakh from existing Rs.20 lakhs.

While,BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary,who is also in-charge of Finance department told that the council has no any position to increase the MCLA area development fund as council has not been getting sufficient fund from state government on population pattern and can’t provide huge fund to the MCLAs in the council. Mohilary tabled Rs. 201144.43 lakhs in the Budget for 2015-16 involving plan and non plan items in BTC highlighting Public Health Engineering,Fisheries, Education,Agriculture,Medical & Health services,PWD,Urban development.

Ghanashyam Das,Independent MCLA raised voice to increase the present constituency area development fund to 50 lakhs from 20 lakhs in the spirit of MLA area development fund in state.He has urged the council to make a policy while increasing the development in the council for gaining social integartion.He has demanded council administration should take bold step bringing area develoment in the region.

Mohilary, while replying to question from Das said that the council administration has been allocating 20 lakhs since 2012-13 to each constituency as annual development fund and hike of development would be impossibe as council has not been getting suffiecient funds from state government.The council presently getting only 4.19 PC instaed of 12.90 PC on the population pattern.

He said,If state government allocates suffiecient and more fund to the council, then council adminsitration will hike annual development fund to 50 lakh or 1 crore from 20 lakhs to meet healthy administration in the region.

He has alleged that centre and state hovernment have no any bold interested to get more development,of which why council is living under backward.
