Despite stiff resistance from Arvind Kejriwal and his lobby senior IAS officer from Assam Shakuntala Gamlin took over as Delhi chief secretery. 

Shakuntala, the daughter of former minister Lalit Doley and wife of former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Jarbom Gamlin has alleged intimidation by a section of bureacrates not to take over. 

He was Lt Governor Jung who appointed her in the top post defying the chief minister's opposition who calls her corrupt.

Congratulation Ms S Gamlin. WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE THAT YOU PLEASE FOCUS ON ISSUES LIKE THE EXTRA ORDINARY NUMBER OF RAPES TAKING PLACE IN NCR. The Union Home Ministry in one year service , has failed to STOP this Horrible CRIME AGAINST Ordinary Citizen of NCR. WE hope and pray you give a "NEW DELHI" FREE of Rape CRIMES in less than 6 months. THE BJP Home Ministry has let us down several time with the multiple rape incidence. WE hope to tell the Home Ministry that RAPE IS ACTUALLY A CRIME and the Basic Right to be secure for every citizen of Delhi , Security is lacking in NCR which happens to be the Nation Capital. Grenade blasts mar I-Day

Two powerful grenade explosions marred Independance day celebrations in Kokrajhar on Thursday. The fist blast took place at JV Road at 10.30 in the morning where one person sustained. Identified as Bipul Brahma, he was rushed to the hospital. Another bomb exploded in front of BPF head office.

Twin blasts rock Chirang again

Despite elaborate security arrangement two more grenade explosions rocked Chirang again. The first explosion took place at Baghergaon in Bijni. Then the second grenade went off in front of ABMSU office premises in the morning.

Gogoi seeks peace to prevail

Chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Thursday said that only peace can the state get an era of development. Unfurling the tricolour at the Khanapara Veterinary playground, Gogoi said that despite insurgency the state has made progress on all fronts. Dilip Nunisa caught smuggling rare reptile

Dilip Nunisa, former Chairman of the DHD (NUNISA), once a dreaded Militant organisation of Dima Hasao was caught in Guwahati on August 14, along with others in case of smuggling a rare reptile called the "TOKEY GECKO" lizard.The former militant turned politician Nunisa was found carrying the TOKEY GECKO reptile in his car while on his way to Haflong, accompanied by his body guards. He was believed to be involved making deals for smuggling the reptile. Another bomb blast rocks Chirang

Amid a mammoth security arrangement yet another grenade explosion rocks Chirang a few hours ahead of the Independence Day. The blast took place at ratabari in the evening. There is no report of any casualty.

Twin blast rock Chirang

NDFB’ anti-talk faction trigger two grenade blasts in Chirang district a day before the Independence Day on Wednesday. The militants triggered two grenade blasts and two improvised explosive devices were recovered. No injury or casualty was reported. The grenade blasts took place in Chirang district around 8.40 am. Security arrangements had been reviewed and additional forces have been deployed at vital installations like oil fields, refineries, airports and along the railway tracks and stations.

RS clears waterways

Good new. Rajya Sabha on Wednesday cleared a bill to declare the 121-km stretch of Barak river as National Waterway. The a move aims at an unified development of waterways for shipping, navigation and transportation of cargo to the north-eastern region.

State mourning day on Friday

State Mourning Day falls on Friday. It will mourn the tragic death of the innocent souls killed in bomb blast on August 15, 2004 at Dhemaji like the previous years after celebrating the 67th Independence Day state-wide along with the entire country. The day will be observed in all districts and sub divisional headquarters and arrangements for the same will be made by Deputy Commissioners and Sub-Divisional Officers. The National Flag will be flown at half mast in all Government offices.
