Poachers strike again in Kaziranga. Two one-horned rhinos were killed and chopped off their horns in the National Park on Wednesday.
Poachers were learnt to have killed the rhinos near the NH-37----200 meters away from Dirang forest camp under Burapahar range office in the park.
According to KNP officials, the incident took place at around 3.20 am nearby the NH-37. Then poachers killed two rhinos using sophisticated weapons and chopped off their horns.
As forest guards came out from their camp, poachers fired at the forest guards and bullets were exchanged.
However, the poachers managed to flee from the site with the horns.
Forest guards found bullet-injured de-horned rhinos and four empty cartridges of AK series rifle from the site.
