A delegation of British parliamentarians is likely to visit Assam as part of goodwill visit to India next year. According to British Deputy High Commissioner Furssedonn Wood, who was a recent visit to Guwahati told chief minister Tarun Gogoi that the delegation would visit the state likely in the first part of the year. The delegation is expected to study the feasibility of investment proposals in the vital sectors of the north eastern state. The British Deputy High Commissioner based in Kolkata apprised the Chief Minister of their keen interests to invest in infrastructure sector.

In yet another landmark judgment, a trial court on Monday sentenced five persons to life imprisonment four years after they gangraped a girl from Manipur on a moving vehicle at Dhaula Kuan. Additional sessions judge Virender Bhat announced the quantum of punishment a couple of days after they were convicted in the shocking case.
