Central team visits Raha

A health ministry team visited Raha on Monday to study the locational feasibility of the proposed AIIMS hospital. 

The team comprising B L Camaria, Monoj Bajpayee inspected the site and talked to a few officers a day after a team of Kamrup district administration visited another spot in Baihata.

Retired principal dies

Narrow escape for PWD engineer

The additional chief engineer of state PWD department had a narrow escape as the Alto car ( AS 01 DF 9185 ) he was driving turned turtle after hitting into divider on NH 37 near Raha chariali on Thursday noon. The locals immediately reached the spot and the victim was taken out of the car safely. According to police, the PWD engineer on his way to Nagaon from Guwahati, lost control of his car and hit into the divider, before turning turtle. Fortunately, Mazumdar received minor injuries.

Old couple made to drink human faeces, urine to drive out witch at Raha

A 70-year-old man and his wife was allegedly beaten and forced to consume  human faeces ,  urine after the villagers suspected them to be witch. The incident happened at Madhya Tupakuchi village , 1 km from Raha Town , on Tuseday afternoon. Mother poisons children, attempts suicide

Sensation prevails here at Raha on Monday after a 30-year-old woman allegedly poisoned her two children before attempting suicide at her residence in Bamunia Gaon at Raha on Sunday night. According to police, the 30 year old mother , identified as Sadhani Das poisoned her children, Ratan ( 7 ) and Rupamoni ( 5 ), before consuming it herself. Silapathar incident condemned at Raha

The Raha unit of All Assam Students' Union ( AASU ) on Tuesday condemned the Silapathar incident and demanded the arrest of culprits immediately. The AASU unit also threatened to launch an agitation if the culprits are not apprehended soon. 3 ultras nabbed , granade recovered

Three Adivasi Tiger Force ( ATF ) insurgents were arrested with 5 live grenades from Rajagaon village , Kachua on Friday night. Acting on a tip off, Raha police and No. 34-B , CRPF nabbed the three militants from Rajagaon village , Kachua in a joint operation. Five hand grenades were recovered from the ultras . APBN personnel beaten up in Roha

The locals of Bagariguri area near Roha severely beat an Assam Rifles personnel posted in Kohima suspecting him to be a dacoit. The man allegedly tried to enter a house in the locality on Friday night when he was caught by the family. The man was found drunk when police arrived on the spot . Identified as Lalit Singh Thagunna of Dehradun, the man was on his way to Kohima after enjoying vacation at home.

Girls outnumber boys in Raha

The first day of class X  High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination passed off peacefully at the Raha H.S.School centre today . The total number of candidates to be appeared from the Raha H.S.School  centre for the HSLC examination this year was 694 where the number of male candidates is 336 and the number of female candidates is 358. Adivasi rebels held at Thekeraguri

In a joint operation the Nagaon and Raha police led by Nagaon ASP Sanjib Saikia and Yashobonto Nath, officer in-charge of Raha PS apprehended six militants belonging to the Adivasi Tiger Force (ATF) on Monday night at Thekeraguri under Raha PS.
