Drinking water and sanitation awareness

As part of the National Drinking Water and Sanitation Week Awareness week, Hand drawing competition among the school students was held at Government HS and MP School Auditorium hall on Sunday.

The programme was organised by Public Health Engineering (PHE) Kokrajhar Division No.1where students from various schools took part in the competition. The students were divided into three groups- Group A from Class I to IV (Draw as you like), Group B from Class V to VII (Uses of water) and Group C from Class VIII to X (Clean India).

The prize winners in Group A are: Urbi Bhadra and Traznanita Paul both from BPCM Baby land English Medium High School got 1st and 2nd prize respectively while Purnima Mushahary of Don Bosco School got third prize. 10 consolation prizes were given to this group.

In Group B: Mihika Nandi and Anushmita Bhowal got 1st and 2nd prize respectively, both were from BPCM Baby Land English Medium High School while Pranay Brahma from UN Academy got third prize in the group. A consolation prize was given to three students.

In group C: Anush Barman of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kokrajhar got first prize, Suman Ghosh of DN Himatshingka High School got second prize and Hankraigwra Borgoyary of UN Academy become third in the competition. A consolation prize for three students was also given in the group.

The prize carries certificate and a trophy from the department. Assistant Executive Engineer Nameswar Tayung gave away the prizes.

The department informed that altogether 205 students from various schools participated in the drawing competition. It also informed that the participatory certificates of all the students taking part in the competition will be distributed in the schools.

Among others present in the prize distribution ceremony were, PHE department staff, Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) cell, teachers, guardians, etc.

A self styled deputy commander in chief of Kamatapur Liberation Organization (KLO) was killed in an encounter with security forces at Shiljan area in Kokrajhar district today.
