The Tiwa Mathonlai Tokhra (The Tiwa Sahitya Sabha) is taking up comprehensive steps in order to revive and contemporize the traditional culture of the Tiwas in Nagaon district. A one month long training-cum-workshop on Tiwa folk dance, songs and musical instrument is being organized by the Nagaon district Tiwa Sahitya Sabha in association with Raha Ranthali Tiwa Sahitya Sabha branch at Kotohguri L P school from Sunday.
Tiwa artist Mungsa Suven Bordoloi and his team will provide training to the participants from different parts of the locality.
Talking to Assam Times on Sunday on the sideline of the camp venue, Pabitra Ladu, General Secretary ,The Makhonlai Tokhra, Nagaon district unit said “Tiwa is one of the major native communities inhabiting in Assam with rich cultural heritage. Their magnificient cultural heritage has still being maintaining isolated and hidden to the public at large due to lack of proper channel and patronage,lack of opportunities for exhibition, preservation , research and sustenance. Therefore , in order to highlight this rich culture and to introduce and make interested the younger generations of the Tiwa community with their rich culture we have organized this camp on Tiwa folk dance here” .
