ABSU backs PCDR in BTC polls

The All Bodo Students’ Union(ABSU) has resolved to support all the candidates selected by Peoples Coordination for Democratic Rights(PCDR) for the greater interest of unity, peace and all round development of the region in the ensuing BTC election slated to be held by first week of April next.

The students’ unon in its cabinet sitting held at Rangia, Chirakhundi in Baksa district on Saturday and resolved several resolutions for proper initiative and necessary time bound action including welcome the Union Government for their announcement to established new central university in the country and urge the government to fulfill the long pending demand of ABSU and the people of Bodoland area to establish a central University in BTAD region. It was stated in a press release issued by Promod Boro,president and Lawrence Islary,general secretary of ABSU.

The students’ union has urged the Government of India to take proper initiative to resolve all pending issues of Bodo and other indigenous communities of the state and held healthy state.The union urge the government and concern department not to accept any obstacle in updating the NRC within stipulated time period given by the honorable Supreme Court of India. The union have a strong apprehension on the security arrangement in forth coming BTC election because in the last couple of elections the security arrangement was ignored by the concern authority for which people witnessed numbers of conflict and violence in the region during election period. The Union have strongly urge upon both the government and concern department to ensure the full proof security arrangement. The students union urged the government of India to launch a new train by the name of " Aronai Express" in the ensuing current Union Rail Budget for the new train whichever runs through the NFR.

The union also place a demand for the stoppage of the new train (Naharlagun-New Delhi launched on February 20 from Naharlagun to New Delhi at the stations of Udalguri railway station and Kokrajhar Railway station which are the key stations for the link with the neighbor country Bhutan and Aunchal Pradesh state which will boost the connectivity for the tourism as well as the transportation for the entire region.

The students union has decided to extend support to all candidates who are selected by PCDR along with appeal to all section of people of the BTAD area irrespective of caste, creed and religion to support in favour of PCDR to establish good governance, corruption free and equal justice to all. The ABSU wish a strong democratic establishment in the region and for the protection of constitutional right of the people because for frequent occurrence of violence and unruly governance in BTAD for last couple of years the democracy has been suppressed in the region.

The ABSU also vehemently condemned the rape and murder at near Balukpong Railway station of a minor girl from the village Hajw Gudi No.2 under Chariduar police station in Sonitpur district , Assam. The union demanded for the strictest punishment to the accused, union urged the government to grant a compensation 20 lakhs to the victims family of rape and murder.

The All Bodo Students Union and All Assam Students Union strongly slammed the answer script of HSLC examination gutted fire in Jorhat on Friday.  Lawrence Islary, general secretary of ABSU condemned the answer script paper gutted in fire was unfortunate and unwanted for the state. Students activists from All BTC Bengali Youth Students Federation show their protest and burnt effigy of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in protest against his recent derogatory remakrs on Hindu Bengali community in the state.
