Postponement of Common Entrance Exam

The Common Entrance Exam (CEE) of the candidates who participated in Recruitment Rally at 8th Assam Police Battalion, Abhayapuri, Bongaigaon from January 30 to February 9 this year has been postponed to March 15, 2015 instead of March 1, 2015 at KV, Narengi, said a statement of the state government on Wednesday.

All the candidates have been requested to report to Army Recruiting Office, Narengi Cantonment on February 26, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. along with one photograph and the old Admit Card for issue of new Admit Card to appear in CEE to be held on March 15, 2015.

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday ordered a probe following the alleged misbehaviour of a woman scribe by cops.The CM asked Additional Chief Secretary Rajiv Bora to inquire into matter leading to the alleged misbehaviour of the scribe and submit report within one month and action will be taken following the finding of the probe.This was ordered followed state wide protests by journalists’ bodies and other civil society since the incident occurred on Saturday.

Caught in a barrage of criticism, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Wednesday directed the power department not to go for power tariff hike at last for the time being. According to the chief minister Gogoi, it is not right time for the government to hike the power tariff as the consumers’ relief is the need of the hour.  Instead, Gogoi asked the finance department to initiate steps for providing subsidy to the Assam Power Distribution Company in view of the roll back decision. The Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission recently cleared the proposal to hike the power tariff from December 1 next generating protest across the state.
