BPF declares 12 nomination
The ruling BPf party today declares 12 nominations in first phase of candidates for the ensuing council election slated to be held in first week of April next at a special delegate session of the party held at Bodofa Cultural complex in Kokrajhar.
Hagrama Mohilary anounced the nomination from party to contest the council election which comprises of party president from Debargaon Hagrama Mohilary, Kampa Borgoayry from Chirang Duar, Sabaram Basumatary from Kachugaon, Subash Basumatary from Manas Serfang, Gautam Das from Matanguri, Ganesh Kachary from Suklai Serfang, James Basumatary from Nishima, Derhasat Basumatary from Salakati, LwmsraoDaimary from Koirabari, Ansumwi Knggur Boro from Mushalpur, Pabitra Boro from Goreswar and Rupen Daimary from Boirabkundo constituency.
Mohilary also said that his party will announce its second phase candidates by next week in a meeting to be held at Barama in Baksa district.

Police arrested 12 persons in connection with Gossaigaon shoot out incident today for suspecting involvement with incident and linkmen of NSLA militants.Sunil Kumar, Kokrajhar SP said the Adivasi militants have done the incident due to nonpayment of demanded extortion from contractors of construction. He said strong operation has been carried out in the area against militant outfits and main culprits would be booked,he said adding that interrogation is on to the arrested persons.Mentioned be made that three persons were killed on the spot and another was sustained injured when NSLA militant outfits fired at them at around 11.30 am.

One Pradip Basumatary (24) was arrested for extorting money from the shop owners in the heart of Kokrajhar town near Assam Oil Petrol pump on Friday. Police said that two fake NDFB (S) were demanding Rs 17 lakhs from the shop owner.Police sources said that the two extortionists came in Kokrajhar town for collecting money from the shops and had prior information about their movement.Basumatary was arrested and another Daoki escaped from the spot, police said.Police also claimed to have recovered six live ammunition from the person. Basumatary claimed that they had come to collect money from the shops.
