Dutta ensures fence mending rally!

Dissidence against Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is likely to summarily stop if Sunday’s huge rally in Guwahati is any indication.

Calling it a fence mending rally, party insiders told Assam Times that the event has achieved success at least to pull all the Congress leaders.

According to a section of the senior party leaders, the credit goes to Anjan Dutta who ensured the huge gathering at the Veterinary Playground in Khanapara to expose BJP’s U turns on a number of issues.

Significantly, Dutta brought Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma to share dais with Tarun Gogoi who has been dead opposed to the chief minister for the last two years. That too a day after the former health minister met Gogoi at his Koinadhara residence.

Dr Sarma along with his loyalists legislators arrived in the rally site well ahead of time and fully cooperated with Dutta in his maiden rally after assuming office as the state Congress president.

A senior party leader told Assam Times that Dr Sarma and his loyalists have agreed to stop dissidence to ensure the party’s victory in the 2016 assembly polls.

The entire rally, further, paved the chief minister to finalise the pending reshuffle. Apart from making scathing attacks on BJP, speakers after speakers vowed to retain power by mending differences within the Congress legislature party for which the party had to pay heavy price in the Lok Sabha polls.
