Seminar in Bhawanipur college
Bhawanipur college is Barpeta district dresses afresh. Only 12 days after left. The premier college is all set to host a national seminar on environmental issues.
The event would begin with the hoisting of flag by Bhawanipur Anchalik College principal Dr. Mukunda Sarma at 9 in the morning on January 19. College governing body president Binode Chandra Pathak, Tarani Pathak, Chief Conservator of Forest attached to Manas sanctuary Anindya Swargowari, Avinu Veronica from Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, former teacher Dr. Girish Sarma would discuss preservation of environment, ecology and wild life in the first session.
Global warming & climate change, Consumption and Lifestyle Choices (using resources efficiently, informed and responsible consumer behavior), Sustainable Development (Biodiversity, Agriculture, Energy, Waste, Water etc.) and Recycling Waste, promotion of traditional and alternative technologies for conservation of environmental resources are other topics to be discussed in the two days event.
Eminent International Filmmaker Jahnu Baruah is also scheduled to attend the event jointly organized by the college and the RAJIV GANDHI NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF YOUTH DEVELOPMENT under the Ministry of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, Youth Affairs & Sports.

Yet another incident sends shockwaves in Barpeta district where a youth died after he slipped from a moving train on Saturday. The incident took place when the youth was travelling on the North East Express and as the train arrived in Dayaguri in Barpeta district he suddenly fell on the ground to be crushed by the train.

Nalbari police have arrested four dreaded Maoist extremists and seized two powerful grenades from their possession on Thursday. Bhawanipur police busted a sex racket after the arrest of four people on Monday. Local residents in Bhawanipur Daxinhati told Assam Times that acting on their complaints, police raided the residence of Mrinal Talukdar on Monday midnight where they found a youth along with two girls. According to allegations, Talukdar and his wife have been running the sex racket for the last couple of months forcing them to move police for action.
