War memories have given the north east literary works a fresh lease of life. Prolific authors and journalists said at a panel discussion on the last days of Guwahati Lit Fest on Monday that their literary works have revived the memories of the World War I and II.
Nagaland writer Easterine Kire, who authored two books said that her book has tried to revive the memories of every notable incidents related to war in Nagaland. She said her books have captured the entire picture of Nagaland during the war.
A few Naga remote villages are also shining in her books because of its memorable moments during the wars.
Manipur journalist Pradip Phanjoubam, who was one of the panelists sad that his books have tried to deal with the situation in Manipur during the war.
The role of the Assam Rifles in the second world war finds a prominent place in his works, said the writer. He maintained the wars have left an indelible page in the literary works of the north eastern region.
Author Siddharth Sarma said that war memories have made Assamese literature unputdownable indeed. He said the books dealing with the wars have made the Assamese literature rich.
Senior journalist Samudra Gupta Kashyap, who moderated the session named some of the authors, lyrics and dramatis who works speak volumes of the war memories.
