Media workshop in Kokrajhar
A media workshop stressed strengthening of immunization for a better future. Organized by the Assam UNICEF section at BTC Secretariat in Kokrajhar jointly with department of health and family welfare and National Health Mission (NHM), on Saturday, the workshop tried to provide media with technical knowledge about all aspects of immunization; Over 50 media persons and health workers from Kokrajhar and neighboring districts like Chirang, Baksa, Dhubri and Bongaigaon participated in the day long workshop. BTC Joint Secretary Dinesh Boro in his keynote address, said the media can play a critical role in creating an informed discourse on the beneficial health aspects of routine immunization and the new pentavalent vaccine. He said responsible reporting can help in engaging the community to inform and educate about immunization. An emergency response mock drill was conducted by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) at Habrubari in Kokrajhar district on Friday,which was a part of offsite emergency mock on the IOCL Guwahati-Siliguri underground pipeline to test the preparedness of its emergency personnel.
