Media workshop in Kokrajhar

A media workshop stressed strengthening of immunization for a better future. Organized by the Assam UNICEF section at BTC Secretariat in Kokrajhar jointly with department of health and family welfare and National Health Mission (NHM), on Saturday, the workshop tried to provide media with technical knowledge about all aspects of immunization; Over 50 media persons and health workers from Kokrajhar and neighboring districts like Chirang, Baksa, Dhubri and Bongaigaon participated in the day long workshop. BTC Joint Secretary Dinesh Boro in his keynote address, said the media can play a critical role in creating an informed discourse on the beneficial health aspects of routine immunization and the new pentavalent vaccine. He said responsible reporting can help in engaging the community to inform and educate about immunization. Dainik Janambhumi editor spoke Hemanta Barman spoke on health coverage in media State Routine Immunization Consultant of UNICEF Dr. Sumeet Juneja, Dr. J. Samaddar, Dr. J. C Boro, Dr. S. Gogoi from Bongaigaon also attended in the workshop.

Three people are believed to have been killed in the name of witch-hunting in Kokrajhar.The incident took place on Thursday in Mongoljhar where the three people including a woman have been remaining untraced for the last 48 hours.Acting on the complaints, police have picked up 11 villagers on Saturday morning.
