Take up dam issue with Xi: CM to PM

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take up the issue of construction of dams on the river Brahmaputra river Chinese President Xi Jinping who is on a visit to New Delhi.

In a letter to Modi, the chief minister expressed grave serious concerns over the move to build big dams by China over the mighty river that threatens to would adversely impact downstream flows.

Gogoi said that construction of the dams is likely to trigger fresh concerns on the flow of Brahmaputra downstream.
