Tiwa CEM’s effigy burnt in Raha
Tiwa Students on Friday burnt the effigy of Rama Kanta Dewri in Raha to protest the recent attack on two of their colleagues. The students of Raha and Barapujia thronged the National Highway at Raha and burnt the effigy of the TAC chief. Led by ATSU president Prahlad Mosrong, the students further demanded Dewri’s arrest in this connection. Notably, the student body on Thursday called for the 12 hour central Assam bandh in this connection.

The Nagaon police have arrested yet another youth in connection with the recent incident where a tractor dealer along with his associated assaulted a group of former rebels as they were raising funds to feed to flood hit people. Identified as Manoranjan Das alias Manoj, the elder brother of the main accused Raju Das was caught in Jagiroad on Tuesday wee hours. Police interrogation is going on and he is expected to be produced before the chief judicial magistrate in the afternoon.
A biker died on the spot when his two wheelers rammed into a stranded truck in Raha on Monday. Identified as Hirakjyoti Pathak, he was on his way to home in Kampur and as he reached Kakotigaon area, his speedy vehicle rammed into the truck.
