Two arrested

Security forces belonging to Police and Army in a joint operation apprehended two cadres of NDFB(Songbijit faction) at Aithugaon under Kokrajhar police station late alst night in Kokrajhar.

 The security forces,getting specific information about presence of cadres carried search operation in the area late last night around 12.30 am and manage to arrest suspected cadres of NDFB(Songbijit faction) at Aithugaon under Kokrajhar  police station from Ani Wary’s house on sleeping.

The arrested cadres were identified as D Kwnasong @ Konkor Daimary of Bhoro Khursakati  Salakati and Danswrang  Basumatary of Jamuguri, Karigaon of Kokrajhar dsitrict. 

Police recovered one 7.65mm pistol, magzine, a hand grenade and 5 round live ammunitions from them.

On the other hand, arrested cadres denied involvement with NDFB(S). The cadres caged at Kokrajhar police station and interrogation is on.

Security forces have intensified their combing operation against militant outfits in the region.  Three link men/over ground worker of the National Democratic Front of Boroland-Songbijit faction were apprehended by security forces in a joint operation at Ripu Reserve Forest on Sunday morning in Kokrajhar district. Fakiragram bazar turn into ashes

Over 15 shops along the Fakiragram main Bazar in Lower Assam’s Kokrajhar district have turned into ashes.  The fire damaged worth of nearly 50 lakhs properties following fire in gutted on Friday late night. Businessman attacked

A businessman was hospitalized after attacked with sharp weapon by miscreants at Champa bazaar area on Friday evening in Kokrajhar district. He was identified as Tamizaddin Anza ri (32) of Mozabari area. He was immediately rushed to Kokrajhar RNB civil hospital and stated to be critical. Details is awaited. 

Vehicular thief arrested

Salakati police in Kokrajhar district arrested a vehicular thief late last night at Salakati rail track.  He was identified as Naba Das of Belsar in Nalbari district, who was involved with stealing of a four wheeler Mahindra pick up van bearing registration AS-16C-2207. An FIR was registered no.138/16 with Salakati police outpost in this connection, under section (u/s) 457/380/411 IPC. 

KLO ultra held

In a joint operation launched by the security forces from Assam Police and Army apprehended a cadre of Kamatapur Liberation Organization (KLO) at Salakati village under Kokrajhar PS on Friday.  He was identified as Sonaram Roy of Balagaon area of Kokrajhar district. He was involved with extortion and money collection, besides working to recruit new members for the organization.  An AK-47 riffle, two live bullet and a mobile handset was recovered from. 

Mock drill in Kokrajhar

An emergency response mock drill was conducted by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) at Habrubari in Kokrajhar district on Friday,which was a part of offsite emergency mock on the IOCL Guwahati-Siliguri underground pipeline to test the preparedness of its emergency personnel. A live fire fighting exercise was carried out alongside the drill by Fire and Rescue Services personnel.
